Beschreibung
Maké, a child from a polygamous household, grew up between the schoolbooks of his mother-a teacher-and the traditional wisdom of his father-a healer. From an early age, he found a refuge in school and a way to escape the limitations of his surroundings. From the village school to distant boarding schools, and from the capital to the most under-resourced classrooms, he navigated a path marked by sacrifice, pivotal encounters, and an unwavering belief in the power of education. After becoming a teacher and later a researcher, his journey took him to Nordélie, where a new educational reality prompted him to rethink his mission. Yet, despite his success and recognition, the call of his homeland drew him back to help transform a school system he refused to see collapse. This novel is a profound reflection on the passing on of knowledge, resilience, and the quest for dignity. The author portrays the challenges of education, social divides, and the hopes that drive those who still believe that words can change the world.
