Mind is Might: The History of Cuca Tops Football Club, uncovers how a team born in Namibia's Kavango region became more than just a club. For over fifty years, Cuca Tops mirrored the struggles and triumphs of a country moving from colonial rule to independence, and beyond. The club's journey is one of resilience, unity, and passion, unfolding against the backdrop of political upheaval, urban evictions, and the fight for national freedom. The chapters weave together history and sport and author Matthias Ngwangwama narrates how Cuca Tops' rise, setbacks, and comebacks reflect the heartbeat of the Namibian society itself. Readers will meet legendary players whose influence stretched far beyond the pitch. The book also follows the club through its rollercoaster promotion to and relegation from the Namibia Premier Football League, while navigating the challenges of organisation and finances in a shifting social and political climate. Whether you are a football fan, a student of history, or someone who loves stories of grit and glory, Mind is Might offers insight, inspiration, and a reminder that sport is never just a game. It is memory, struggle, and nationhood played out on the field. Matthias Mpareke Ngwangwama (PhD, Business Management and Administration, University of Stellenbosch (2018)) is the former Managing Director of Namibia Wildlife Resorts (2020 - 2025) and has worked in diverse sectors of the Namibian economy, specifically in the postal, financial, youth development and tourism sectors.
