This study identifies shared characteristics shaping educational movements inspired by Grundtvigian heritage and global civic education. Can research identify common characteristics in educational movements inspired by N. F. S. Grundtvig. This anthology presents sixteen articles exploring the diverse learning communities connected to the 2019 International Folk High School Summit in Copenhagen and the subsequent cooperation project People's Future Lab. Drawing on empirical studies of institutions linked to the Grundtvigian heritage, the authors examine shared traits and compare them with global civic education currents represented by Paulo Freire and Rabindranath Tagore. Initiated and edited by the Global Network for Folk high school Research, the book features the network's projects and those of invited contributors. Johan Lövgren is Associate Professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway and Chair of Global Network for Folk High School Research. Dawn Jackman Murphy is Marie Fielder Fellow at the Marie Fielder Center for Democracy, Leadership, and Education. Asoke Bhattacharya, recipient of the UNESCO-NLM Award and Erasmus Mundus Scholar, was Professor and Head of Department at Jadavpur University. Garry Nicholson is academic tutor at the University of Sunderland and board member of ESRAD, European Society for Research in Adult Development.
