Beschreibung
This open access book offers Asia-Pacific perspectives on the advancement of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) research since the adoption of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2003. Drawing on contributions from the 2024 International Conference organized by the International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI) and the National Museum of Ethnology in Japan, leading scholars present and discuss emerging issues through diverse case studies, most of which are framed within the unique Asia-Pacific context. With its comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach, this volume guides readers toward a deeper understanding of the latest and emerging trends in ICH safeguarding and related research, as well as theoretical developments taking shape in the region.
