Beschreibung
The advent of instruments capable of measuring sound intensity, which represents the flow of energy in sound fields, has revolutionised audio-frequency acoustical metrology. Since publication of the first edition, two International Standards for the use of sound intensity for sound source power determination, and one International Standard for sound intensity instrumentation, have been published. A number of National Standards have also been developed. This second edition of Sound Intensity deals with all aspects of sound intensity and its measurement, from the basic theoretical analysis to the practical application to engineering problems. New features include: treatment of transient and instantaneous sound intensity, greater focus on the relationship between energy transport and mean intensity distributions, in-depth discussion of sources of error associated with spatial and spectral sampling techniques, discussion of the significance of new sound field indicators, summary of the principal elements of International Standards for sound power determination and intensity instrumentation, and new examples of the application of sound intensity measurement to sound field characterisation and source location.
