Beschreibung
This article analyzes the impact of structural heterogeneity on the macroeconomic performance of UEMOA countries, with a focus on the AES member states (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger) over the period 2006-2024. Using several advanced econometric methods (PMG-ARDL, CCE-MG, system GMM, AMG, and Driscoll-Kraay), it shows that structural divergences linked to productive specialization, dependence on natural resources, and insecurity hinder economic growth and foreign direct investment, while exacerbating inflation and external imbalances. The results confirm the existence of long-term relationships between these variables and highlight nonlinear effects suggesting critical thresholds. The study concludes that reducing structural vulnerabilities is an essential condition for macroeconomic stability and the viability of any potential monetary transition in WAEMU countries. Keywords: UEMOA, AES, structural heterogeneity, economic growth, inflation, FDI, monetary integration.
