Beschreibung
This updated edition of Teaching for Quality at University builds on the concept of constructive alignment as used extensively in higher education. Constructive alignment is a 'backward design' method of teaching where the student outcomes are clearly identified and the teacher is then shown how to design teaching activities that help students achieve those outcomes, and to assess how well they have been achieved. Each chapter takes the reader through these necessary steps in designing the learning outcomes, teaching and assessment. This edition also outlines the role of educational technology in designing constructively aligned teaching. The underlying principle of such teaching is that the students need to be kept relevantly active to achieve optimal learning. It also features a section on the evaluation of constructive alignment in enhancing student learning, and for ensuring quality enhancement of teaching. Teaching for Quality at University:. Provides a comprehensive theory of teaching based on sound research that enables teachers to reflect on their teaching and how to improve it. Aids staff developers in providing support for individual staff and departments in line with institutional policies. Provides a framework for administrators to adopt quality assurance and especially quality enhancement across the whole institution. Provides the latest information and how-to about the role of educational technology in constructively aligned teachingThe book is used as a framework for designing teaching systems throughout the world. John Biggs has held Chairs in Education in Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong. He has published extensively on student learning and the implications of his research for teaching.
