The NHS is revered in the United Kingdom, yet despite the excellence of its staff, it is a service in constant crisis. On the seventy-fifth anniversary of the NHS, overworked and harassed NHS staff were low in morale, leaving in record numbers for careers abroad, and patient dissatisfaction hit record highs, driven by sky-high expectations. Something has gone very wrong. In The Delusion, Dr Michael Christopher uses his own first-hand experience of healthcare in the UK and other countries, both as doctor and patient, to unlock the origins and mythology of the NHS.
