This study sought to identify a relationship between human motivation - which is divided into intrinsic and extrinsic motivation - and the construct of self-transcendence. The theoretical framework consisted of numerous studies and definitions that were relevant to the subsequent statistical analysis. The sample consisted of N = 132 participants. To test the main research question - whether there is a relationship between human motivation and the construct of self-transcendence - a Spearman's correlation was calculated. Prior to this, two relevant questionnaires were used for the data collection. The Adult Self-Transcendence Inventory (ASTI) by Levenson et al. (2005) was used to measure self-transcendence, whilst the Aspiration Index (AI) by Deci and Ryan (1997), based on Kasser and Ryan (1993), was used to assess human motivation.
