Beschreibung
This work examines the topic of the Slovenian ethnic group in Carinthia, with a particular focus on its history, the services available to it, its rights, and the options for action within the context of social work. This thesis aims to answer the question of how the Slovenian ethnic group has developed over time and how social work can intervene to improve coexistence between the German- and Slovenian-speaking population groups in Carinthia. The terms 'minority' and 'ethnic group', as well as 'inclusion', 'integration' and 'assimilation', are explained. Furthermore, a historical overview of the ethnic group is provided. Subsequently, the aspects of population share, legal protection and services available to Carinthian Slovenes are addressed. In addition, the perspectives within the context of social work, with a focus on school social work and community work, are examined in greater detail.
