The Swiss Model of Vocational Education and Training

In virtually no other country, vocational education and training (VET) has an equally strong position at the upper secondary level as in Switzerland. Most of Swiss VET students spend a majority of their time in companies, acquiring competencies that are relevant for the needs of the labour market. This book provides an overview of the main systemic elements of the Swiss model, including the role of the private sector, the governance and the financing. In addition, it provides insights into the pedagogical approaches used in Swiss VET.
