Beschreibung
A veteran officer recounts his final World War II service as an officer in a Luftwaffe armored division, detailing battles, capture, and captivity. In this second of two impressive volumes, Prussian solider and officer Karl Knoblauch describes his military career during the final stages of the Second World War. This volume picks up where the first book left off, with Knoblauch's experiences as an officer in the 1st Fallschirm-Panzer Division 'Hermann Göring'. His account takes readers through the highs and lows of his time in this armoured Luftwaffe division, from 1944 through to the death of Hitler, Knoblauch's capture and time as a PoW, and the end of the war. Supplemented by fascinating photographs and a detailed set of appendices, this volume brings Knoblauch's epic first-hand account of fighting for the Wehrmacht to a fascinating close. Together with the first volume, this is a must-read for any military history enthusiast.
