Beschreibung
Leading vocabulary scholar, Norbert Schmitt, draws on his career of over 35 years to present his perspective of the field of second language vocabulary. This book offers a comprehensive discussion of the state of the art of vocabulary description, acquisition, theory, pedagogy and assessment. It synthesises research demonstrating the complexity of vocabulary knowledge, the integration of different aspects of vocabulary knowledge and the incremental nature of vocabulary acquisition. The author combines these realisations in the field to form the Complex Integrated Incremental Perspective (CIIP), which serves as the framework for the book and future vocabulary pedagogy and research. This will be of interest to trainee language teachers and researchers looking to understand lexical research through new conceptualisations, the evidence supporting them and their implications and applications for the field.
