Beschreibung
When Mom Has a Slow Day is a gentle and reassuring children's picture book that helps young readers understand what it means when a parent is living with chronic illness. The story follows a child who wakes up excited for a special day at the beach, only to learn that their mom isn't feeling well enough to follow through with their plans. Confused, disappointed, and worried, the child struggles to understand why things suddenly feel different. Through an honest and comforting conversation, Mom explains that her "slow days" are part of her body needing extra rest, not something that can be caught, caused, or fixed in a single day. As the story unfolds, the child begins to shift from frustration and fear toward empathy and understanding. Together, they discover new ways to connect and create meaningful moments, even on the quietest days. With warmth and emotional clarity, When Mom Has a Slow Day offers families language to talk about chronic illness, validates children's feelings, and reassures them that love and connection remain constant, even when plans change.
