Beschreibung
If you liked Hamilton, you are going to love this Muslim mosque pattern on the cover and a title that is based off a Chinese parable. With themes and symbolism throughout the book that highlight the American value of freedom of conscience reminiscent of Nathaniel Hawthrone. The title is based on a combination of a Taoist parable and Muslim Sufist beliefs in giving your will over to God. This book is about three sisters and a father trying to make it in Colonial America. Without a mother, Helen is trying to straddle being a leader and support her sisters through starting up from nothing in the new land and relinquishing her childhood. Anne carries a solid, hardened attitude towards the challenges they face, but an occasionally a soft spot accompanies her. Leah is fun and playful, but not helpful at all in her inexperience and place as the youngest child. The father, Abraham, leaves them with a store clerk in town as he travels with a rescue party to a ship of immigrants from England that have shipwrecked and been abandoned far to the south in colonial Virginia. The family also meets Alice Steward, an angelic neighbor, who takes on a motherly role to the three sisters in teaching them and ministering to them. The theme of the story includes freedom of conscience, an age old American value.
