Autor/-in: Jonathan Dymond

Jonathan Dymond (1796-1828) was a Quaker moral philosopher and pacifist whose writings profoundly influenced 19th-century ethical thought. Born in Exeter, England, to parents who were recorded ministers in the Society of Friends, Dymond received little formal education, instead working as a linen draper in his father's shop while devoting his spare time to self-study and writing. Dymond produced formative works of philosophical thought despite his short life - he died form tuberculosis at the age of 31. His rigorous, principle-based arguments extended beyond pacifism to include abolition and civil obedience, earning him recognition as a leading voice in Quaker ethics and the broader peace movement.
