Running Riot

Deutsch. Ruby ist stolz darauf, wie sie aussieht. Sie ärgert sich über die Ungerechtigkeit eines Systems, in dem Menschen nicht gleich behandelt werden, und sie will, dass die Welt das weiß. Sie ist zu einer regelmäßigen Demonstrantin geworden, die in der Innenstadt von Portland randaliert und plündert. Sie ist wütend, nicht nur über das, was George Floyd passiert ist, sondern auch darüber, dass Leute wie Melvina und ihre Mutter es wagen, ihre Überzeugungen und Handlungen in Frage zu stellen. Schließlich tut sie all das was sie tut, für Melvina und andere people of color. Sollte Melvina nicht dankbar sein. She resents the unfairness of a system in which people are not treated equally, and she wants the world to know. She has become a regular protester, rioting and looting in downtown Portland. She is angry, not just about what happened to George Floyd, but at the way people like Melvina and her mother dare to question her beliefs and actions. After all, everything she’s doing is for Melvina and other people of color. Shouldn’t Melvina be grateful. It takes a tragic event for Ruby to wake up and begin to learn from the real consequences of her actions.
